How It Works
The medicine blocks part of estrogen's feedback signal at the hypothalamus and pituitary. This increases the release of LH and FSH in responsive men. LH stimulates testicular testosterone production, while FSH contributes to the signalling involved in sperm production.

The medicine raises testosterone, LH and FSH in men with responsive secondary hypogonadism. The effect comes from increasing the body's hormonal drive to the testes. For a strength athlete recovering from suppression, these hormonal changes are the relevant action.

Side Effects
Possible effects include headache, hot flushes, nausea, mood changes and increased estradiol. Visual disturbances are especially important: blurred vision, spots or flashes can persist and occasionally cause lasting harm. Blood clots and severe lipid changes have also been reported.
