Proviron (Mesterolone)

How It Works

It is an orally active androgen derived from DHT. It binds to androgen receptors and also binds strongly to SHBG, a protein that carries sex hormones in the blood. Its main action is androgen replacement activity, with comparatively limited muscle building action.

Libido and Androgen Function

The androgen acts on androgen dependent functions, including sexual desire in men with androgen deficiency. Its physique reputation also includes perceived muscular hardness, although controlled studies have not established a meaningful muscle growth or definition benefit. Strong SHBG binding does not by itself predict extra gains from another steroid.

Post Cycle Therapy

The androgen supplies an external androgen rather than stimulating the pituitary to restore LH and FSH. It is not an established PCT medicine. Any recovery needs after a steroid cycle depend on the complete exposure and return of natural testosterone production.

Side Effects

Possible effects include acne, oily skin, hair loss, increased or persistent erections and prostate related urinary symptoms. Adverse lipid changes and hormonal effects are also concerns. Its androgenic activity makes virilisation a significant risk for women. High exposure and combinations with other androgens add cardiovascular and liver concerns.
