How It Works
The medicine blocks PDE5 and slows the breakdown of cyclic GMP. This strengthens the smooth muscle relaxation triggered by nitric oxide during sexual stimulation, increasing blood flow into erectile tissue. Its longer persistence produces a more extended response window than shorter acting PDE5 inhibitors.
Erectile Function and Duration of Response
Tadalafil improves erection firmness and the ability to maintain an erection during sexual activity. Its longer exposure allows a broader period in which sexual stimulation can produce that response. It also has established effects on urinary symptoms in appropriately treated benign prostatic enlargement, using the relevant prescribed formulation.

Post Cycle Therapy
The PDE5 inhibitor has no steroid style PCT requirement. It treats erectile blood flow signalling rather than restoring LH, FSH or testicular testosterone production. Improved erections therefore do not establish recovery from a suppressed hormonal axis.
Side Effects
Possible reactions include headache, flushing, indigestion, nasal congestion, back pain and muscle aches. Rare serious effects include prolonged erection and sudden vision or hearing loss. Nitrates and recreational nitrite poppers can cause dangerous hypotension when combined with tadalafil. Interactions also occur with certain blood pressure medicines and riociguat.
