How It Works
The drug permanently inactivates aromatase, the enzyme that converts androgens such as testosterone into estrogens. Estrogen production falls until the body replaces the affected enzyme. It therefore acts as a steroidal aromatase inactivator rather than an estrogen receptor blocker.
Estradiol Reduction and Estrogen Management
The inhibitor lowers estradiol production. In the context of aromatizing androgen exposure, its purpose is controlling confirmed estrogen excess. Lowering estradiol changes hormone balance; the degree of reduction is judged against symptoms and blood results.
- Reducing conversion of androgens into estrogens.
- Lowering circulating estradiol.
- Producing persistent enzyme inactivation until aromatase is replaced.
Post Cycle Therapy
The inhibitor itself does not require steroid style PCT. Its role during recovery from androgen exposure is limited to situations where estrogen control is specifically indicated. It is not a universal substitute for restoring pituitary and testicular function after suppression.
Side Effects
Excessive estradiol reduction can cause joint discomfort, reduced libido, fatigue, hot flushes and mood changes. Prolonged estrogen deficiency can reduce bone density and adversely affect lipid balance. Headache and sleep disturbance are also reported. Symptoms depend in part on how far estrogen levels fall.
