How It Works

The drug activates beta 2 adrenergic receptors, increasing intracellular cyclic AMP signalling. This stimulates processes involved in lipolysis and energy metabolism. Human studies have measured increased energy expenditure and fat oxidation under specific exposure conditions. T3 (liothyronine) acts through thyroid hormone receptors rather than this adrenergic pathway.

Energy Expenditure and Fat Metabolism

The drug has increased metabolic rate and fat oxidation in human experiments. This explains its association with cutting: greater energy expenditure can contribute to a calorie deficit. The size and persistence of that effect vary, and a temperature increase alone does not establish how much body fat is lost.

Post Cycle Therapy

Clenbuterol is not an anabolic androgen and does not require PCT for testosterone recovery. Changes in adrenergic responsiveness are separate from recovery of LH, FSH and testicular function. Any steroid PCT requirement comes from other suppressive compounds used.

Side Effects

Possible reactions include tremor, palpitations, rapid heart rate, anxiety, insomnia, cramps and low potassium. Serious toxicity can involve arrhythmias and myocardial injury. Human research has also documented impaired cardiorespiratory fitness. Combining it with other stimulants or excess thyroid hormone increases cardiovascular concerns.
