How It Works

The peptide activates melanocortin receptors. At MC1 receptors in pigment cells, this increases melanin production and darkens the skin. Activity at central melanocortin receptors also influences sexual responses and appetite, which explains effects beyond pigmentation.

Skin Pigmentation and Physique Presentation

Small human studies demonstrate increased skin pigmentation after Melanotan II exposure. This is the effect relevant to a darker skin tone for physique presentation. Human research also records erectile responses, reflecting activity at receptor pathways outside the skin.

Post Cycle Therapy

Melanotan II does not act as an androgen and has no established requirement for steroid style PCT. Its pigment and central receptor effects are separate from recovery of natural testosterone after anabolic steroid use.

Side Effects

Nausea, flushing, yawning, fatigue, appetite reduction and spontaneous or prolonged erections are reported. Darkening of freckles and moles, uneven pigmentation and new pigmented lesions are concerns. Serious systemic reactions have been reported, while long duration safety remains insufficiently characterised. A darker skin tone does not provide reliable protection from ultraviolet damage.
